Jagtial: A man in Telangana's Jagtial district on Monday was severely injured after being brutally attacked with an axe, allegedly over a land dispute.
The man identified as Kishan, a resident of Markandeya colony in Jagtial reportedly had a land dispute with K Laxman, a native of Anantaram.
Superintendent of Police, Jagitial district Sindhu Sharma said, "There was a land dispute between Laxman and Kishan as Laxman purchased land from Kishan five years ago and the land was disputed. In the early morning hours of Monday, Laxman attacked Kishan with an axe in Jagitial town after an argument."
"The accused fled from the spot. Victim Kishan received severe injuries and was shifted to a local hospital for treatment, doctors said his condition stable," he added.
The incident was captured on a CCTV camera in the vicinity.
As seen in the video, Laxman ekes out an axe from his motorcycle and starts swinging it towards Kishan.
Fortunately for Kishan, the head of the axe separated from its shaft, following which Laxman threw it away in a drain nearby, even as frightened onlookers failed to intervene.
The police have filed a case against the accused under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. Special teams of police have been formed to arrest the accused.
