Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has refused to amend its earlier order, banning immersion of Ganesh idols made up of Plaster of Paris (POP) in the Hussain Sagar lake. The HC said that they could not amend the judgement given on September 9.

HC conducted an emergency trial on a review petition which was filed by the GHMC commissioner, Lokesh Kumar. He had filed the petition to review the judgement and amend some points. Kumar requested the prohibition on the immersion of POP idols in the Hussain Sagar lake be lifted and that permission for immersion of idols be granted from the Tank bund road.

Government special advocate Harinder, said it was difficult to immerse tall idols of Ganesh in special water pools. Calling the government's request surprising, the court asked why these things weren't mentioned in any of the three reports submitted by the GHMC commissioner.

The court expressed reservations about the reasons listed by the government, saying that they didn't seem to be honest.
