Ramoji Rao donates Rs 10 cr each to Telugu states to combat COVID-19

Ramoji Group of Companies Chairperson, Ramoji Rao has donated Rs 10 crore each to the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana chief ministers' relief fund to combat the coronavirus outbreak, and wished both the Telugu states the best in their fight against the pandemic.

Hyderabad: In a humanitarian gesture, Ramoji Group of Companies Chairperson, Ramoji Rao on Tuesday donated a sum of Rs 10 crore each to the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Chief Ministers' relief fund to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

The amount was credited online into the respective accounts, Rao said in a statement, adding that he could not meet the Chief Ministers personally owing to the lockdown.

Rao also wished both the Chief Ministers in their fight against the outbreak, and hoped that the people of the two Telugu states would remain in the best of health.

Earlier on March 24, Rao was part of the group of senior journalists who interacted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

With respect to India's fight against COVID-19, Rao put forth a few valuable suggestions, to which the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude.

He stressed upon the urgent need to "insulate" rural India in order to ease the burden on the nation's healthcare system.

Rao also urged the Prime Minister to take the assistance of India's pharmacy industry, and learn from the experience of countries like Italy and China - two nations which have been adversely hit by the pandemic.
