Hyderabad (Telangana): Local residents vociferously protested against Ibrahimpatnam MLA Manchireddy Kishan Reddy and other TRS workers, during their visit to the flood-affected Medipally area on Thursday.
The locals denied entry to the MLA's convoy, demanding that the land acquisition for the pharmaceutical industry be stopped.
The protesters hurled slippers and stones at the MLA's convoy and also vandalised his vehicle.
The situation turned tense as the police lathi-charged and detained a few protesters who were present at the spot.
Meanwhile, All India Kisan Congress vice-chairman M Kodanda Reddy, and the village sarpanch were also detained by the police.
Torrential rains killed at least 50 people in Telangana and triggered flooding said to be the worst in recent times.
