Hyderabad: Opposition parties in Telangana on Monday decided to organise a 'Chalo Secretariat' protest against the TRS government's move to construct new buildings for the Secretariat and legislature, which they alleged was the misuse of money when the state was facing financial problems.

"We request all to make the 'Chalo Secretariat' a success by participating in it, cutting across party affiliations. We once again appeal to the government that it is not correct to misuse money at a time when the state is facing financial problems," Telangana Jana Samiti (TJS) president M Kodandaram said.

Former MP G Vivekanand, who organised the event, recalled that opposition parties had petitioned the Governor against the demolition of Secretariat buildings and construction of new legislature buildings.

Former MP and state Congress working president Ponnam Prabhakar and others were present on the occasion.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had recently laid separate foundation stones for construction of new Secretariat and legislature buildings.
