Cyclone Gulab: One more falls into drainage in Hyderabad, body not traced

A man fell into the drainage at Kuthbullapur in Malkajgiri-Medchal district on September 25, but the news came to light on Wednesday. This is the second incident that was reported due to heavy rains that lashed the city following Cyclone Gulab. Though the incident happened on the same day when a software engineer went missing after falling into the drainage at Manikonda, it was not reported late.

Hyderabad: A man fell into the drainage at Kuthbullapur in Malkajgiri-Medchal district on September 25, but the news came to light on Wednesday. This is the second incident that was reported due to heavy rains that lashed the city following Cyclone Gulab. Though the incident happened on the same day when a software engineer went missing after falling into the drainage at Manikonda, it was not reported late.

The missing man was identified as Mohan Reddy and his body was not traced till date whereas the body of the Manikonda victim was found after three days. Mohan Reddy, a resident of Ganesh Towers in Kuthbullapur, had a drink, along with friends, at a wine shop on September 25. Later, when he was proceeding towards his home he accidentally fell into the drainage. On witnessing the incident, his friends tried to catch Mohan Reddy, but in vain. He washed away in water due to the gushing of rainwater. Later his friends lodged a complaint with the police. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case.

Meanwhile, the family members of Mohan Reddy lodged a complaint with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials. In turn, the officers immediately sent rescue teams to trace his body. While the scene of Mohan Reddy suddenly falling into the drainage was captured on CCTV cameras. This video has now gone viral on social media.
