Hyderabad: External Affairs Ministry rescued a Hyderabad-based woman who was trafficked to Oman on the pretext of job in the Gulf country.
Speaking to media, the rescued victim Farah Naz said, “A Hyderabadi agent approached me and promised a good job in Oman with Rs 25,000 per month salary. On believing him, I left for the Gulf nation on December 9, 2018.”
She added that after reaching Oman she was received by an unknown person at the airport who later sent her to a remote area. “There I was been kept in an agent’s office where they used to lock me from outside.”
The victim was also sent to various places to work as a housemaid where she was tortured and was not even provided with adequate food.
“They didn't even take me to a hospital when I was suffering from an infection on my body,” she said adding that she was not even paid remuneration for three months.
“Later, my mother wrote a letter to External Affairs Minister (EAM) Sushma Swaraj and urged to rescue me as I was in a horrible condition. Acting on which, the Indian Embassy in Muscat spoke to my Omani agent and ensured my return to Hyderabad. I thank Sushma Swaraj ma'am for bringing me back on February 25,” she further stated.
