"Whatever is happening in society is very troubling. One after the other there are incidents of rape, murder, a girl is being burnt alive, there are acid attacks. These heart-wrenching incidents raise serious questions on the judiciary, the legal system and society."

"A responsible citizen of the country would want a better law and order as well as the justice delivery system. Fake encounters don't solve the problem and neither provide an answer to the problem at hand. We will only get to know the truth after a magisterial enquiry into the matter."

Such instances will justify mob lynching of rape accused: CPI leader Subhasini Ali

Encounter is not the way to deliver justice: CPI leader Subhasini Ali

Communist Party of India leader and President of the All India Democratic Women's Association said that an encounter does not ensure delivery of justice.

"When the country's law and order situation fails the people of the country, they seek immediate justice in whichever way possible. But this is not a solution. We have been witnessing an increase in the incidents of rape, crime against minor girls and women and other forms of violence over the past few years. This is a big problem. In order to address this problem it is important to understand the existing laws and implement them efficiently. The biggest problem in our country is the low conviction rate. An encounter is not the way to deliver justice. Justice can only be delivered by strengthening the judicial procedure."

"Such instances will justify mob lynching of rape accused, without giving the accused a chance to prove himself/herself innocent."

An encounter won't stop crime against women: Advocate Ashwini Upadhyay

While raising questions over the encounter of the four accused in the Hyderabad veterinary doctor's gang rape and murder case, Supreme Court advocate, Ashwini Kumar Upadhyay said that encounter won't stop rape.

"There is rule of law in India. If the encounter is genuine then and if the accused were trying to flee than the police had no other choice but to shoot them down. But if it's a fake encounter, then this is a serious issue. The people of the country don't want the rapists to be killed like this. The people of the country demand faster delivery of justice for the victims. Under the present system, it takes years for a victim to get justice, and many times, the accused get bail owing to lack of concrete evidence."
"We demand that a law must be framed and passed making narco analysis, brain mapping and polygraph test compulsory during the investigation of such crimes, within this Parliament session. This will help solve the case faster. This will also prevent an innocent person from being convicted. An encounter won't stop rape."

"We need a behaviour-based curriculum in the country."

"We need to reform the judiciary, police and our education system"
