Hyderabad (Telangana): Amid the nation-wide lockdown, a Hyderabad resident distributed alcohol pegs among the people in the city on Sunday morning.
Speaking to a news agency, the man, Kumar said, "Yesterday I was returning to my residence in Hyderabad's old city after completing my work, when in Champapet area, I noticed that a woman was suffering from convulsion due to her alcohol addiction. She was shifted to a hospital later on."
"There are other such people who desperately need alcohol as they are addicted to it. I had an alcohol bottle at my residence. So, I thought of distributing alcohol pegs to such people," he added.
Kumar said that he distributed the alcohol this morning to people who desperately needed it.

He claimed that his intention was not to violate the government norms but to help the people.
Meanwhile, the Telangana government has extended the lockdown till April 30, meaning addicts will have to deal with the absence of liquor for a few more weeks.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said that after April 30, the government may consider lifting the lockdown in phases.
