Hyderabad: Bonalu festival in Telangana is a joyful occasion, where goddess Mahakali is worshipped in various forms. While the festivities showcase love and affection for the 'deity', a young man took the message quite literally as he landed a peck on a police officer, in the midst of a large crowd.
Celebrations were at its peak in Hyderabad, when a young man decided to offer a kiss to a police officer, who was managing the crowd.
In a video, the man, who was reportedly in an inebriated condition, can be seen dancing during the procession, until he approached a cop with the offer of a passionate hug followed by a kiss.
The police officer can be seen visibly disturbed and evading the man following the incident.
The video was reportedly posted by another on-duty officer.
Bonalu, also known as Ashada Jatara, is one of the biggest festivals of Telangana. It is observed once in a year in the Ashadha month of the Hindu calendar.
In 2014, the Telangana government declared Bonalu as the state festival. The term 'Bonalu' has been derived from the Sanskrit term ‘Bhojanam', which translates into food or a feast in Telugu
The video of the incident has since gone viral on various social media platforms.
