Hyderabad: The much-awaited Ameerpet-Hitec city stretch of the Hyderabad Metro will be formally inaugurated by Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan on Wednesday.
With the Model Code of Conduct in force due to the Lok Sabha elections, the Governor will inaugurate the stretch in a low-key ceremony in the morning, with only a few officials in attendance. General services on the stretch would be open for the public from 4 pm.
The 10 km stretch will comprise of eight stations and will establish a crucial connection to the densely populated areas of Hitec City, Madhapur, Jubilee Hills, and Gachibowli.
The new stretch is expected to witness the largest footfall in Hyderabad Metro, as it connects the IT district of Hyderabad to the heart of the city.
The stretch is a part of the 28-km-long Blue Line of the Hyderabad Metro from Nagole to Raidurg. The Raidurg Metro Station is currently still under construction.
Although, only five out of the eight stations will remain functional for now. Following the completion of minor construction work in Jubilee Hills check-post, Peddamma temple and Madhapur stations, they are expected to start functioning in a few weeks.
Unlike the 6-minute frequency in other portions of the Metro, trains on this corridor will initially run with a frequency of 9-12 minutes, an official from the Hyderabad Metro had stated.
