Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police has arrested a cricket betting gang in Bachupally in Medchal–Malkajgiri district. Commissioner of Police for Cyberabad, VC Sajjanar said that Rs 21.50 lakhs was seized from the gang. He advised the youth not to lose money by participating in betting.
The Police Commissioner said that five members of the gang were arrested and Rs 21.5 lakh cash and betting equipment were seized from them. The Commissioner revealed that the gang was betting on the Pakistan Premier League. He further said that the betting process was virtual with bets being placed online through Apps. Sajjanar suggested that parents should be careful that their children don't get involved in betting.
Sajjanar said that the gang was arrested after the police raided a building in Nizampet. The whole operation was being overseen by a person identified as Somanna, who is a resident of East Godavari district. The police seized 26 mobile phones, a communicator board and a WiFi router along with cash from the accused.

The betting was being done online through apps like Live Line Guru, Cricket Maza, Lotus, Bet 365, etc. Police also revealed that it was mostly young people and students who were participating in the operation. The police advised parents to watch their children closely so that they don't fall in this trap.
