Cannabis smuggling gang arrested in Hyderabad

The Rachakonda Police in Telangana has seized cannabis worth Rs 1.3 crore. Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said that they have recovered 1010 kg of cannabis filled in 194 packets, a container, Rs 4,000 cash and two phones. The police have also arrested two persons while three others are missing.

Hyderabad: Rachakonda Police have arrested two persons from Haryana for their involvement in cannabis smuggling and trade. Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said that they have recovered 1010 kg of cannabis filled in 194 packets, a container, Rs 4,000 cash and two phones. He said that five and a half kgs of cannabis was filled in each packet. The property seized was worth Rs 1.3 crore. Three other accused in the case are in the wind.

Those arrested include Mohammed Ramzan and Gautam Rao of Haryana. Others involved include Mahadev, who is from Orissa and used to buy cannabis from local cannabis growers. Imran of Haryana would go to Orissa with his container and hand over the lorry there. Vivek Singh would take over the lorry and load the cannabis in the forest area where Mahadev was. Imran's lorry would then be taken to Varanasi via Vijayawada.

The Police Commissioner clarified that the container was caught when they came to Abdullahpurmet with the information they received. The container was tracked and caught while at Orissa and Visakhapatnam since last week. Police are looking for the three more accused Mahadev, Vivek Singh and Imran who are missing.
