Hyderabad: Bharat Biotech's Chairman and Managing Director Dr Krishna Ella is donating 4,000 doses of Covaxin to Anandwan - a community rehabilitation centre in Maharashtra.
Anandwan in Chandrapur district was set up by renowned social worker and Ramon Magsaysay awardee late Baba Amte in 1949 for leprosy patients and the disabled from downtrodden sections of society. Dr Ella is an alumnus of the Anand Niketan College of Agriculture which was set up by Baba Amte’s Maharogi Sewa Samiti. He attended a BSc course in agriculture in 1973.
Reports said, Dr Ella has already dispatched 2,000 doses of the vaccine after learning about the impact of Covid-19 on the Anandwan inmates. Kastuba Amte, the grandson of Baba Amte has expressed his gratitude to Dr Ella, according to reports.
