Medak: Five persons were arrested for allegedly tying two electricity department officials to a pole after the officials visited the village to collect payment of electricity bills.
The incident took place in Muslapur village of Alladurgam in Telangana.
"We received information that two electricity officials who went to collect bills were detained under the Alladurgam Police Station limits. We immediately reached the spot and released the officials," said Deputy Superintendent of Police Krishna Murthy.
Murthy said "We spoke to the villagers there, the electricity officials lodged a complaint and based on that an FIR has been registered against five members under Sections 353, 342 and 188 of the Indian Penal Code. Five accused have been arrested."
Villagers claimed that their issues regarding electricity were not resolved by the department.
The officials were tied to the pillars of gram panchayat building and were released after police intervened in the matter.
