Chennai: A contract worker on night duty at the sixth unit of the NLC India Limited (India's second thermal power plant) died in an accident on a conveyor belt.
Sakthivel, a contract worker at the NLC, was seriously injured while working in the area of the conveyor belt carrying the coal after his hand got stuck in the belt. His coworkers rushed him to the Neyveli NLC Hospital for treatment. But unfortunately, Sakthivel died at the hospital.

Subsequent deaths of workers at two of the thermal power plants have caused fear among the workers.
Workers at the NLC have also demanded the administration to investigate and take further action on the ongoing accidents at Thermal Power Station 2.
