Chennai: Sahitya Akademi awardee and veteran novelist Sa. Kandasamy passed away today morning. He was 79.
The author debuted in the Tamil literary world with his first novel Chayavanam, which was listed by the National Book Trust. He won Sahitya Akademi award for his novel Visaranai commission which published in 1998.
He lived in Chennai with his wife and three children and was admitted in a private hospital due to illness for the past ten days.
According to his son Saravanan, Kandasmy's last work is based on China and its history. Since the soft copy of the book is ready, it will be published soon.
