TN: Three sanitation workers die in Coimbatore

Three sanitation workers died while cleaning a septic tank at a pig farm in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore. A case has been registered and the bodies of the deceased have been sent for post mortem.

Coimbatore: Three people died after they fell into a septic tank in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore on Thursday. According to reports, the three sanitation workers died in a pig farm owned by an individual named Subramanian.

On Thursday noon, a sanitation worker named Rajappan went inside the tank while two of his associates waited outside to help. As Rajappan did not come out of the tank in a stipulated time and failed to respond to repeated calls, the two went in and died of asphyxiation.

With their attempt to save Rajappan going in vain, all the tree died in the septic tank. The bodies of the deceased were recovered a couple of hours later by the fire rescue team and have been sent for post mortem.

While a case was registered by the police, the matter is currently under investigation.
