Thoothukudi (Tamil Nadu): Cop in Tamil Nadu was killed after a crude bomb has been hurled while effecting the arrest of murder suspects at Murappanadu in Thoothukudi district on Tuesday.
Based on a tip-off, Subramanian along with the special investigation team (SIT) probing the incident of a double murder case, reached to the den of Durai Muthu, one of the prime accused, police officials said.

As police attempted to catch the gang, an altercation broke out between them.
Soon the conflict turned into a bloody standoff in which Durai Muthu hurled a crude bomb upon the policemen.
In the attack, Subramanian sustained a head injury and succumbed to death.
On the other hand, Durai Muthu has also suffered injuries and died on the spot.
Later the deceased bodies were sent for post-mortem at Tirunelveli government hospital, said police.
Meanwhile, police have taken three members of the gang under judicial custody, police said.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
