Pudukkottai (Tamil Nadu): While parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala are reeling under mass-scale floods, leading to a high death toll and displacing many, several have come forward to provide any assistance - they can - to get the flood-affected areas on their feet and moving.

As politicians, actors, army personnel, and many others are doing their bit, here's the story of a humble man, Ganesan, who has kick-started his fundraising drive from all across Pudukkottai to help the needy in flood- strangled Nilgris district and the neighbouring state of Kerala.

Ganesan (68), famously known '515 Ganesan', is the main troubleshooter in his area.

As a social worker, he had offered free rides to 2000 plus pregnant ladies in his car and is also credited of ferrying 6,000 corpses in his car, without even charging a single penny.

It is hard to find anyone in Pudukkottai who doesn't know 515 Ganesan. He had also played a significant role during natural calamities in the state.

In his late 60s, Ganesan is all set to help needy in flood strangled Nilgris district and the neighbouring state of Kerala, with his fundraising drive in major towns of Pudhukoottai district.

"Until my last breath, I will not stop helping people within my capacity. I don't charge a single penny for my services. The government should help the flood-affected people as soon as possible," Ganesan said in an exclusive interview with ETV Bharat.
