Chennai/Hyderabad: Several seismic activities shook various regions across India, raising concerns among residents and officials alike. According to the National Center for Seismology, four distinct earthquakes occurred in different parts of the country within a few hours, marking an unusual series of tremors.
The first quake, measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale, struck Vijayapura in Karnataka at 06:52 am with a depth of 10 Km.
Shortly after, at 07:39 am, Chengalpattu in Tamil Nadu experienced a 3.2 magnitude quake at a depth of 10 Km.
Following these, a 3.8 magnitude earthquake rocked Shillong, Meghalaya, at 08:46 am, with a depth of 14 Km.
Lastly, at 09:31 am, Rajkot in Gujarat felt a tremor measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale, occurring at a depth of 20 Km.

October saw 231 earthquakes in India- In a report on real-time earthquake location, the Seismology Center recorded 231 earthquakes, of which 221 took place in India and the surrounding area bounded by the coordinates, in the month of October.
The Hindu Kush region in North India was home to the majority of the earthquakes that occurred in India and the surrounding area, which is defined by the coordinates 0–40° N and 60–100°E. North East India, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir Nagaland, Mizoram, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh.
A few smaller-magnitude earthquakes were also noted in the northern regions of Faridabad, Nuh, Rewari, Rohtak and Sonipat in Haryana, western Raigad, Satara, Solapur, Latur, Nanded and Nagpur in Maharashtra central Seoni in Madhya Pradesh eastern Dumka in Jharkhand Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri in West Bengal and southern Bidar, Ballari, Kalaburagi and Raichur in Karnataka; Sangareddy in Telangana.
In the same month, 63 earthquakes with a magnitude of less than 3.0, occurred. The month saw fourteen earthquakes in the area with a magnitude of M:5.0 or higher. Of the 231 total earthquakes, 31% fell between the magnitude ranges of 3.0-3.9 and 4.0-4.9; meanwhile, ten earthquakes with a magnitude between 5.0 and 5.9 occurred during that time, nine of which were located within the grids of 0–40° N and 60–100°E.
A total of 74 earthquakes were recorded inside Indian territory during that time, with 12 of those occurring in Maharashtra and 9 in each of Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh. Of the 74 recorded earthquakes, 22 and 16 were located in the North and North-East, respectively.
