Chennai (Tamil Nadu): Goodwill gestures of the cops received huge praises from National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) after Dr RG Anand, a member of NCPCR, visited Nandambakkam Police Station in Tamil Nadu and appreciated the policemen for their timely help to a 5-year-old girl for the heart surgery through their capacity.
Police inspector M Thangaraj and head constable K Senthil Kumar helped in saving a young girl's life as she was struggling with heart disease.
Kavishka (5) from Guduvanchery was born with a blockage in heart and has been under treatment since birth.
Her father Karthik was a salesman at a shop and his family was under severe financial crisis as they were running out of funds due to coronavirus-induced lockdown.
As the girl's health deteriorated, the doctors asked to undergo open-heart surgery to save the child which needed a huge amount of money.
On learning about the pain of the family, Senthil Kumar, who is also a neighbour of Karthik, decided to help them.
Kumar along with Thangaraj collected around Rs 5 lakh from their colleagues and donated it to Karthik for the surgery.
After the surgery, the girl recovered successfully and she will be discharged from the hospital on Saturday night.
