A man was killed on Wednesday night after a clash broke out between two groups in Tamil Nadu's Virudhunagar district. The deceased was beaten to death for opposing the unanimous nomination of an AIADMK functionary as Panchayat president.

Virudhunagar (Tamil Nadu): A 27-year-old man was killed on Wednesday night after a clash broke out between two groups in Tamil Nadu's Virudhunagar district.

According to sources, the deceased, Sathish, opposed the unanimous nomination of an AIADMK functionary as Panchayat president which led to an argument.

The heated argument then turned into a clash where Sathish was beaten by the rival group, said sources.

Sathish succumbed to his injuries when he was taken to the hospital, added sources.

It is to be noted that the Virudhunagar police have arrested seven people related to the incident and started the investigation.

Virudhunagar: Sathish, a 27 year old Bank Manager, was lynched to death in a midnight clash after he reportedly opposed the unanimous nomination of an AIADMK functionary as Panchayat president.

The deceased opposed to the unanimous nomination of Ramasubu, the branch secretary of ADMK, for the post of president of the Kottaipatti Panchayat in a meeting held late on Wednesday, sources said . On the invitation of people, belonging to an intermediary caste, the meeting was held at a community hall. Sathish who showed up at the meeting, the question as to why he was not invited and opposed the nomination of Ramasubu.

He said, his brother Suburam had already filed his nomination for the post, and decision taken at the meeting was inappropriate. The discusses dissented down to a quarrel, when SubuRam's supporters. Sathish fell down and became unconscious. When he was taken to hospital the doctor declared him brought dead. Police said they have detained 7including Ramasubu for interrogation.
