Chennai (Tamil Nadu): In an horrific incident, a tenant allegedly murdered his landlord as the latter had been pestering his family for rent, at Chennai's Kundrathur.
The deceased has been identified as Gunasekaran (50), a resident of Kundrathur.
According to reports, Gunasekaran had been pestering his tenant Dhanraj to pay him as four months of rent was due. This issue reportedly remained a running feud between the duo throughout the lockdown period.
However, late last night, Dhanraj's son Ajith (21), who was reportedly in an inebriated condition, allegedly slit Gunasekaran's throat.
Meanwhile, the police have taken Ajith in for questioning, while the body of the deceased has been moved to the Chrompet government hospital.
Pertinently, when the lockdown was imposed towards the end of March, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami had requested house-owners to defer rent by two months for tenants unable to pay the rent.
