Chennai: The Central government recently announced certain relief measures in connection with the transportation in the area of green zones.
As the central government announced that public transportation in green zone areas can function with 50% of its capacity, Tamil Nadu government had initially made plans to remove few seats in the buses to ensure social distancing.
However, the State Transport Corporation pointed out that the act of removing and later replacing the seats will turn out to be expensive.
As part of the solution, the transport officials have decided to mark the seats with numbers. Similarly, circles would be drawn at bus stops as well.
TN State Transport Corporation, which has more than 20,000 buses, is getting ready to resume its services.
While the buses are being sanitized, the officials said that social distancing in buses will be strictly followed for at least one month.
