New Delhi: Tamil Nadu's ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Saturday filed a plea in the Supreme Court seeking direction to the centre to implement 50 per cent reservation for OBCs in state-surrendered All India Quota (AIQ) seats in UG, PG medical and dental admissions.
A week after the Madras High Court ordered Centre to take a call on ensuring reservations for OBCs in medical admissions, the AIADMK has filed the petition.

However, a bench of judges comprising MHC Chief Justice AP Sahi and Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy ruled that there was no impediment, constitutional or legal, for giving reservation to OBCs.
The judges also directed the centre to constitute a committee to ensure reservation for OBCs and sort out all the issues pertaining to the OBC's reservation within the next academic year.
