ADMK MLA marriage issue - girl's father files Habeas Corpus

ADMK MLA Prabhu, who married a 19-year-old girl has landed in another controversy after the girl's father alleged that Prabhu had kidnapped his daughter. The girl's father has now filed a Habeas corpus in the Madras HC seeking his daughter to be restored to his custody.

Chennai: ADMK MLA from Kallakurichi constituency (reserved) Prabhu (34) married a 19-year-old girl named Soundarya and the wedding photo went viral on social media in the state.

The couple belongs to different castes and this intercaste marriage has now whirled up controversy after Soundarya's father, Swaminathan, alleged that Prabhu kidnapped his daughter.

But Prabhu has denied the allegation of Soundarya's father and later in an exclusive interview with Etv Bharat said, "We have been in love for 4 months. I have been acquainted with Soundarya's family for 10 years."

"I did not kidnap her. We talked about our love with her father. But he disagreed and everyone at my house agreed. So I talked to Soundarya about this wedding and she too agreed to marry me. On that basis, I took Soundarya's hand amidst my parents and relatives."

Now Swaminathan, father of Soundarya, has filed a Habeas corpus petition in Madras high court seeking, to produce his daughter and restore her to his custody.
