Madurai: A newly opened restaurant in Madurai's Sellur offered chicken biryani for five paise which attracted a huge crowd creating ruckus in front of the hotel. Following the exciting introductory offer, people with five paise coins started thronging the restaurant by putting Covid prevention measures for a toss. Long queues were seen in front of the hotel with people without wearing masks and maintaining social distancing.
The new restaurant was opened on Wednesday and to attract customers, the owner announced free chicken biryani for those who bring five paise coins as an introductory offer. Following the announcement, more than 500 people rushed to the hotel to buy biryani with five paise in their hands. The incident also disrupted traffic in the area. Unable to manage the crowd, the restaurant management was forced to pull off the shutters and soon police reached the spot and regulated the crowd.
