Jaipur (Rajasthan): Rajasthan government chief whip Mahesh Joshi, who had filed complaints alleging 'poaching' attempts by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Tuesday said that the Congress will not try to influence the agencies working on the case and stressed that the truth will soon come out.
Speaking exclusively to ETV Bharat, Joshi said that he had already received a call from the agencies and will go and record his statement.
On why the Congress government wasn't naming any people in connection with the alleged horse-trading attempts, Joshi said that it is now the job of the agencies to completely finish their investigation and bring out the truth based on proof.
"We will not influence the agencies as they work on the case. The truth will come out," he added.
Won't influence agencies investigating 'poaching' bid: Rajasthan Chief Whip In an obvious reference to the BJP, Joshi said that some parties were indulging in corruption. "In contrast with Rajasthan's values of selflessness and harmony, if some parties want to indulge in corruption, then it is our responsibility to stop them," he said.
On being asked whether the 'poaching' attempts were only for gathering cross-votes in the Rajya Sabha polls or were part of a plan to topple the government, Joshi said that such horse-trading attempts should never happen in the first place.
"We have numbers for two Rajya Sabha seats. We didn't field the third candidate. BJP has the numbers only for one, but they still fielded extra candidate. Despite this being an election where the votes are known, they still fielded extra candidate," he said.
"So how do they plan on winning the seats if not by horse-trading? Their only motive is to lure MLAs and turn them over," Joshi added.
Alleging attempts to poach the party MLAs and the independent legislators backing the government, Joshi had on June 10 forwarded a written complaint to the DG, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). Subsequently, Joshi also filed a complaint with the state's Special Operation Group (SOG) for an investigation into the matter.
