Karauli: Two youths, have been arrested by Hindaun city police on Saturday, for paying money to a 17-year-old boy, who attempted to shoot Congress MLA Bharosi Lal Jatav in Rajasthan's Karauli district on June 24.
The arrested duo have been identified as Sandeep (21) and Ravindra (23).
"The arrested duo gave the pistol to the boy named Kishore and paid Rs.34,000 to execute the act," said DSP Todabhim, Kamal Prasad Meena, who is investigating the case.
As per reports, Kishore, who fled from the scene after the assassination attempt failed, was detained by the police from Ekorasi village of the district.
On June 24, the culprit fired a shot when the Congress leader was addressing a public hearing at his private residence. The gun malfunctioned and didn’t fire in a narrow escape for the legislator.
The youth kept pulling the trigger but failed. Before anyone in the meeting room could grasp the gravity of the situation, the youth picked up the pistol and fled from the spot.
"The man tried to kill me but luckily he couldn't succeed in his mission. He has been absconding but the police have registered an FIR and the probe is underway. He will soon be put behind bars," the Congress leader had said in his complaint registered at a local police station.
