Sirohi (Rajasthan): A married woman was allegedly raped by a Tantrik (occultist) on the pretext of providing treatment for her ailments in Rajasthan's Sirohi, police said on Sunday.
According to the preliminary information, about 10 days ago the woman complained of her ill health to her in-laws. Her mother-in-law decided to seek the help of a Tantrik named Prakash Kumar.
The accused had said that he could cure people’s problems by chanting religious hymns, using his divine powers.
When she went to the Tantrik he took her to a secluded place and sexually assaulted her.
Upon coming back she narrated her ordeal to her in-laws. But to her surprise, they asked her not to tell about the incident to anyone as it would damage their reputation. She was locked inside her house.
She somehow managed to escape and went to Mandara police station to file her complaint.
The woman told the police that the Tantrik had threatened to destroy her family and ruin her life with divine powers if she informed anybody about the sexual assault or filed any complaint against him.
An FIR was lodged against the accused under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
