Jaipur: Rajasthan's Chief Secretary on Saturday issued an order which stated that teachers shouldn't be given duties in non-academic works other than those described in Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009.
This move followed after ETV Bharat highlighted the story of how government school teachers were forced to work in non-academic areas of work.
Minister of State for primary and secondary education, Govind Singh Dotasra said "besides medical workers, teachers across Rajasthan have played a huge role in combating coronavirus. The administration had to deploy teachers at various other places owing to the lack of manpower, exclusive guidelines were also issued to keep the teachers away from infection."

On the other hand, the teacher's organisation conveyed a token of thanks to ETV Bharat for highlighting the major problems that were faced by the teachers across the state. "In the name of helping corona patients, teachers were being deployed to work under MGNREGA and other such non-academic activities. This was being done unlawfully, I am glad that ETV Bharat took this matter to our education minister and he immediately took action," Vipin Prakash Sharma, a teacher said.
