Barmer (Rajasthan): An incident of cruelty has come to light in Barmer district of Rajasthan in which a rape victim is fighting for justice.
A rape victim from a village in Gudmalani area of Barmer district has filed a police complaint against the Sarpanch of her village who has expelled the victim's family from the society and also ordered to pay a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
In a statement given by the victim, she said: "On 22nd January, I was alone in the home when Dinesh, resident of the same village entered my house and forcefully raped me."
"After which I lodged a rape case against the accused at Gudmalani police station, on which the police nabbed him," she said.
After the accused got bail, on June 8th, he went to the victim's house and asked for a settlement of the case, which the family refused. Later, he took the whole matter to the village panchayat and they expelled the victim's family from the society, police said.
The Sarpanch also asked her family to pay a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
Since then, the victim is fighting for justice. She went to the district SP and demanded stern action against them, including the sarpanch Haramanaram Vishnoi, Kevalchand Jat, Khetaram, Deedram, Shriram and Meharam Jat.
On this, the SP has issued instructions to register an FIR against the sarpanch.
