Jaipur: A video has emerged of a man with his hands tied with chains and apparently engaged in masonry work.
Reports suggest the video which went viral was shot in Rajasthan. There is no confirmation that he was forced to work in chains.
Police said local residents complained and the man's family has been called to help with the investigation.
A police officer in north Jaipur Parish Deshmukh said," The elderly person is in a mentally imbalanced condition and he was not tied by any other person. The elderly man tied his hands himself with the iron chain and was working late at night near a local eatery."
"The family members of the elderly person were also called and we had also interrogated them. We will also call the eatery owner and other staff for interrogation," Deshmukh added.
Eyewitnesses in the area said, the old man is a resident of Khoramina village in Amer locality, who has been working at the eatery for a long time. The elderly person was assaulted and tied with iron chains. Several times he has been seen working after being tied with an iron chain.
Police said they are investigating the case from a human rights angle.
