New Covid-19 guidelines dampens Rajasthan traders' hopes

It is speculated that the new guidelines and the restrictions by the government will break the backbone of small and medium scale industries and businesses as the livelihoods of many people are dependent on them.

Udaipur: In the backdrop of the second wave of Covid-19 in the country, Rajasthan Government has decided to observe 'public discipline fortnight' till 3 May. For this government has also announced new guidelines with certain restrictions.

Meanwhile, it is speculated that the new guidelines and the restrictions by the government will break the backbone of small and medium scale industries and businesses as the livelihoods of many people are dependent on them.

To understand whether the situation of the small and middle-class businessman's condition is similar as it was during the first lockdown or not, ETV Bharat visited Rajasthan's Udaipur where the government is organising public discipline fortnight.

During the visit, the team of ETV Bharat interacted with fast food vendors, clothes sellers, tea makers, Automobile workers, cobblers and small shopkeepers to understand they face problems due to the new guidelines and restrictions.

Rohit a vendor said that because of the second wave of corona sales was only nominal. "It is becoming very difficult to maintain the family," Rohit said.

The same situation was seen for all small businessmen.

Meanwhile, another shopkeeper requested the government to find solutions to ease the traders' problems during the second wave. He requested the government to make uniform guidelines for everyone. Small textile traders said they fear shutting down businesses like last year.
