Bhilwara (Rajasthan): In a world where people with two hands find it hard to chase their dreams, Anju Rawat, a brave girl from Rajasthan's Bhilwara district is proving that sheer determination and passion are enough to achieve something in life.
Anju, a student of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Residential School, has no hands and writes with her leg.
On a fateful day, while grazing sheep in her village, She lost her both hands due to electrocution by a high-tension electric wire.
However, this incident could not deter her will and she started mastering daily activities with her legs.
The spirit of reading and writing remained intact in Anju's mind. Seeing her spirit, the then-District Collector of Bhilwara Tina Kumar got her admitted to Bhimrao Ambedkar Residential School.
Apart from her parents, teachers and students in her school also encourage her to chase her dreams despite her serious physical inability.
Speaking exclusively to ETV Bharat, Anju said that She wants to become a teacher and she has the full support of her teachers in the school.
"I was admitted here when I was in class 9th. Everyone is so supportive in school. Not even once it crosses my mind that I don't even have my hands. My parents also work in this school only and I live with them," said Anju.
On being asked how she writes? To this, the brave girl said, "I write with my legs. I complete all my homework by myself. During board examinations, I get scribe who writes for me."
Talking about Anju, her Principal, Bharti Jha said that Anju has opted for Arts in class 12th and She is ready to take board examination.
"I personally supervise on behalf of the school. I monitor myself as well as fellow girls also help in her work. Although, She has lost her hands but that has not deterred her confidence even a bit. She is a very enthusiastic and astute student. I expect her to continue to grow and achieve her aim which will ultimately give fame to her family as well as school," said Jha.
Anju's life is undoubtedly an epitome for everyone, and such children are a real encouragement for all the other special needs children who consider disabilities the end of their lives.
