Bhiwadi (Rajasthan): The centre has directed the states to initiate a helpline number to aid people in distress amid the nationwide lockdown. But some miscreants interpreted it as a number that can provide them with food any time they like!

The helpline numbers got a host of bizarre requests from people. While some asked for home-delivery of pizza, others wanted freshly made paan. Some people asked the helpline to deliver juicy rasgullas, while others still wanted hot samosas with green mint chutney.

Recently, a case emerges from Rajasthan's Bhiwadi district where two youngsters hailings from Bihar's capital took to Twitter and said, "We have not eaten anything from the last 12 days. Hence, you are requested to please provide ration to us."

The youngsters narrated their bogus ordeal, tagging Bihar's Rashtriya Lok Samta Party leader Upendra Kushwaha.

Taking cognizance of the tweet, the leader responded immediately and informed the concerned Chief Minister.

Later, when Bhiwadi Suprident of Police (SP) Hariram Kumawat reached the spot to verify the claim, he found dozens of bottles of liquor at their home. Also, after exploring their residence, the police officials found an ample amount of ration available for their survival.

Meanwhile, the police officials have registered a case against the youngsters for mishandling the helpline numbers which have been provided as an aid during the lockdown.

"We have received a call about a person in distress due to lack of ration at his home. But when we reached Twitter's account holder appartment, we found the claim was bogus and they were caught enjoying a party at their residence, " said Tehsildar Arvind Kavaiya to ETV Bharat.
