The doctors and nursing staffers posted at the Jawahar Hospital located at the district headquarters have been vigorously tackling the outbreak of coronavirus.

After performing their duties in the hospital, they themselves prepare the food not only to the patients but also to their attendants.

On 22nd March, the hospital initiated a 'Jan Rasoyi' (people’s kitchen). Through this initiative, free food is being provided to the needy apart from the admitted patients and their families.

After their duty gets over, the medical staff engage themselves in cooking, cutting vegetables and distributing the food packets.

This is how it all began

Janta curfew was announced on 22nd March and later lockdown was imposed. This lead to a food crisis for the patients and their attendant who were admitted in Jawahar Hospital as the food here was being provided by a trust which could no longer continue serve them due to the lockdown.

Health workers discussed the problem with the staff and collected a small amount after which they provided meals to the in-house patients.

Now, they are able to serve breakfast, lunch as well as dinner. Approximately 90-100 people are being provided with meals every day.

Notably, they pay special attention on the quality of the food. They change the menu every day and provide a variety of vegetables. Apart from maintaining social distancing, hygiene and sanitization are also well maintained in the cooking premises.

Food is also being provided to the medical staff who are stationed in the isolation ward of the hospital. The cafeteria is being successfully handled by Dr. V.K. Verma and his team. These health workers are themselves looking into every aspect from preparing meals to having them served.
