Dacoits open fire on police in Rajasthan, constable shot

A police constable was injured after a notorious dacoity gang opened fire on police in Rajasthan's Dholpur. The constable was rushed to a trauma centre of the district hospital in critical condition.

Dholpur (Rajasthan): A police constable was severely injured during a gunfire exchange between Keshav Gurjar-led dacoity gang and police at Dholpur in Rajasthan.

Constable Avadhesh Sharma took a bullet in his stomach in the firing. He was immediately rushed to the trauma centre of the district hospital in critical condition.

He was later shifted to a hospital in Agra since his condition deteriorated.

The incident took place during the deployment of local police and a District Special Team following a tip-off regarding the presence of the gang.

As soon as the team reached the spot, the gang started firing and the police retaliated.

According to sources, the firing lasted for half-an-hour.

A police team led by Superintendent of Police Kesar Singh Shekhawat has reached the spot and a massive search operation is underway to nab the dacoits.
