Kota (Rajasthan): As many students of UP and MP left for their homes, nearly 20,000 pupils stuck in Rajasthan's Kota amid lockdown are requesting their states to bring them back home, a source said on Thursday.

Reportedly, the government of Bihar and Jharkhand have already denied to bring back the students even after repeated requests were made by the parents and their wards.

Children from states like West Bengal, Odisha, Haryana, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal and Maharashtra have also been appealing to their state authorities.

However, more than 16,000 children so far have returned to their home states in about 430 buses from Kota.

Uttar Pradesh was the first state to initiate this move. In a similar row, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Union Territory Daman and Diu, Dadar and Nagar Haveli have also taken their students back home.

According to the sources, the government of Assam has put forward the proposal of bringing back pupils of its state.

Out of the 20,000 students, reportedly 6500 are from Bihar, 3000 from Haryana, 2000 each from Jharkhand and Maharashtra, 1000 each from North East and West Bengal.

The students have constantly been putting up their problems to the state governments. "We are in absolute despair and its almost impossible for us to study this way. Back at home, our parents are worried about our safety. We are not getting proper food either shelter for that matter. Our state governments should do something to get us back home," Sonali Pawar, a student from Chhattisgarh added.
