Jaipur (Rajasthan): In what might be the world's youngest COVID-19 fatality, a 20-day-old infant diead at a hospital in Jaipur on Friday.
According to the city's JK Lon hospital, a family from the city's Chandpol area brought the male infant to the hospital on May 1 after he fell ill.
The baby was admitted to the hospital at around 4 am, but unfortunately passed away at 9 am due to septicemia, a bloodstream infection.
The hospital then sent the baby's samples for testing, which later turned out to be COVID-19 positive.
Earlier in April, a one-and-a-half-month-old baby had died of coronavirus infection at a hospital in Delhi, which made him the country's youngest victim of the deadly disease at the time.

Earlier this year, a six-week-old infant who had died in Connecticut, USA, was believed to be the world's youngest to die of the disease.
Meanwhile, as on today morning, three fresh deaths and 12 new positive cases of COVID-19 were reported in Rajasthan.
Of the 12 new cases, five are from Jaipur, two each from Jodhpur and Dholpur and one each from Ajmer, Chittorgarh and Kota.
A total of 2,678 people have been tested positive for the virus in the state and 65 of them have died.
