118 child labourers rescued in Rajasthan

As many as 118 child labourers were rescued by a team of anti-human traffic units of Rajasthan.

Jaipur: A team of anti-human traffic units of Rajasthan raided hostels and residential areas in Surat in Gujarat and rescued 118 children in the 10-16 age group on Saturday.

According to sources, anti-human traffic unit personnel conducted raids on brick-kilns, sweet shops, roadside eateries, and hotels today and freed the under-age workers

These children were brought from Bihar to work in the city’s textile sector, hotels and as domestic workers, they said adding these establishments would face action under the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act.

The children were rescued after the team members along with that of Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi’s NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan, raided at different places in Jaipur here, sources said.

"After freeing all the child labourers, they were being kept under the supervision of administration. Today we send all children to Bihar by a train," an official added.
