Jalandhar: Balkaur Singh, father of slain Punjabi rapper Sidhu Moose Wala, called upon the people of the Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency not to vote for the Aam Aadmi Party in the ensuing bypoll. He alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab government had failed in rendering justice to his son. Hence, he will campaign against the government in byelection, which is slated for May 10.
Balkaur Singh will launch a two-day campaign at Jalandhar on Friday to make people aware about prevailing law and order situation in the state and Punjab government’s failure in the probe of his son’s murder case. The campaign will be held during the run up to Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll, which is scheduled for May 10. Moose Wala's father will start his campaign from Phillaur on Friday and conclude in Jalandhar city.

It is learnt that he will cover all the nine Assembly segments-Phillaur, Nakodar, Shahkot, Jalandhar Cantt, Jalandhar West, Jalandhar North, Jalandhar Central, Adampur and Kartarpur--which fall under the Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency. It may be recalled that on May 29, 2022, Sidhu Moose Wale was shot dead by armed people at Jawaharke village in Mansa district, after which the father of Sidhu Moosewale hav been appealing to the government to render justice
Even after a year, there was no progress in the murder case, therefore the family of Sidhu Moose Wala parents urging the people not to vote for the Aam Aadmi Party in the Jalandhar by-election. Earlier, Balkaur Singh accused the AAP government of suppressing the Sidhu Moose Wala case and denying justice to him. "Whoever raises their voice for their rights they are being suppressed by the government and cases are being registered against them."
The Jalandhar Lok Sabha poll was necessitated after the untimely demise of Congress MP Santokh Chaudhary in January. The 77-year-old collapsed in Ludhiana while walking with Congress MP Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra's Punjab leg on January 14. The AAP has pitted Sushil Kumar Rinku for the Jalandhar bypoll against Santokh Chaudhary's wife Karamjit Kaur, a Congress candidate.
