Ludhiana (Punjab): Gurveen Kaur, scored 499 marks out of 500 to get 99.80 cent marks in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) class 12 results declared on Monday.
The city-based 18-year-old lose only a single mark scoring 499 out of 500.
While talking to ETV Bharat, Kaur said that she wants to pursue a career judiciary as the country has a number of cases pending due to the dearth of judges in the court.
"I want to give this message that it is not compulsory to score maximum marks. What is important is to give your 100 per cent. I used to study from NCERT books. In future, I would like to serve in the judiciary as our country needs a number of judges", said Kaur to ETV Bharat here.
Kaur's parents said that they are proud of their daughter. "I am very happy that she bagged the second position in the CBSE examination, " said the mother of the topper girl.
Gurveen, during her class 10th examination, had scored 92 per cent of marks.
