Chandigarh: As the Union Cabinet on Monday approved an ordinance to cut salaries of the Prime Minister, all ministers and sitting MPs by 30% for one year in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, Punjab MLA Aman Arora from Aam Aadmi Party has requested Punjab CM to cut his salary by 30% for a year.
Arora wrote a letter to Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh that Punjab is struggling with scarcity of PPE kits and testing kits and available funds should be used for fight against COVID-19.

Reportedly, the Union Cabinet and also decided to suspend the MP Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) for two years. The President and Vice President with all Governors had also decided of their own volition to take 30% salary cut.
Notably, Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh had ordered curfew in Punjab till further orders and as per latest information, state has 130 COVID positive cases with 10 deaths.
