Punjab govt launches special drive against adulterated food

Under the extensive Shadow of Covid-19, Food and Drug Administration Department of Punjab has launched a special drive to check the adulterated food items. Health Minister Punjab Balbir Singh Sidhu directed the department to take strict action against the persons involved in adulteration.

Chandigarh: On the directives of Health Minister Punjab Balbir Singh Sidhu, the Food and Drug Administration Department has launched a special drive to check adulterated food items.

The Minister said that during the regime of festival days, it is the usual practice of the public to celebrate the festivals with sweets being a tradition in our country for sharing love and affection.

The public is already under the fear of COVID-19 pandemic, assessing the situation, the Government has decided that no adulterated or spurious sweets containing milk & milk products would be sold into the market.

The Food & Drugs Administration would ensure that the standard quality milk khoya & paneer and other sweets shall be made available to the public.

Strict directions have been issued to the Food & Drugs Administration in this regard. He advised to the sweet vendors that they shall take utmost care in preparation/processing of sweets specially made from Khoya or Milk that no product shall be made from adulterated material because the Government cannot afford to play havoc with lives of the people.

He further advised the vendors to be cautious & directed the department to take strict action against the persons involved in adulteration.
