Amritsar: Pro-Khalistani leader Gopal Singh Chawla landed in a fresh controversy after he challenged the Akal Takht maryada (Sikh code of religious living) and asked to change the Anand Sanskar (Sikh matrimonial conventions and ceremony) rituals.
The controversial general secretary of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC), Gopal Singh Chawla during a function held at Gurudwara in Pakistan, suggested todo away with the circumambulations of Sri Guru Granth Sahib during the Sikh marriage ceremony.
In a viral video, Chawala is heard suggesting, "Can't we just stand in attendance of Sri Guru Granth Sahib while recitingthe verses and do away with the pheras."
