Punjab: A joint rescue operation by the National Disaster Response Force, military experts, police officials, villagers, and volunteers is underway even as 76 hours have passed since a two-year-old toddler fell into 150-ft deep borewell outside his house in Punjab's Sangrur district.
On Thursday evening Fatehveer fell inside a borewell outside his house on Sunam-Sheron road in Bhagwanpura. To save him a parallel 36-inch diameter borewell was dug. The operation was being carried out by the NDRF, Armed Engineer, Patiala, and Sangrur administration. However, the lack of, required expertise delayed the operation. The rescue operation was halted for five hours till 9 am, due to some issues in parallel borewell, which has been dug till 127 ft and a pipe with a window, has been installed.
Authorities have plans to retrieve Fatehveer through the window of the parallel borewell after cutting the old borewell from beneath.
The family members of Fatehveer have been spending sleepless nights at the spot and refuse to move away from the site.
