Jalalabad Motorcycle Blast Case: NIA and Punjab Police intensify investigation

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today conducted investigation at the site of the motorcycle blast in Jalalabad. At the same time, a Punjab Police team from Jalalabad conducted a search operation in the village Chandiwala of Ferozepur, including the house of the deceased's relatives in Ferozepur district.

Fazilka (Punjab): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today conducted its investigation at the site of the motorcycle blast in Jalalabad. At the same time, a Punjab Police team from Jalalabad conducted a search operation in the village Chandiwala of Ferozepur, including the house of the deceased's relatives in Ferozepur district.

Amarinder Singh, SHO, Jalalabad informed the media that they are searching the house of the relatives of the deceased, who died in the motorcycle blast on Wednesday in Jalalabad. He confirmed that they didn't find anything suspicious during the search and the forensic team is investigating at the moment. Meanwhile, according to sources, Punjab Police have detained few suspects for further interrogation.

Forensic team informed that the explosion happened due to petrol tank but the real cause of the blast will be known only after thorough investigation.

What is the case:

A motorcycle exploded in Jalalabad late on Wednesday night. The bike rider died on the spot. As per information, this incident happened in front of the Punjab National Bank in Jalalabad, Punjab. The explosion was so powerful, that the bike rider's body was blown to pieces. Witnesses informed the police that the bike's petrol trunk caught fire, followed by an explosion. The person killed in this motorcycle blast has been identified as 22-year-old Balwinder Singh alias Binder, a resident of Mandali Nahango, Firozpur. The deceased had travelled to Jalalabad from Ferozepur to meet his relatives.

According to reports, the area where the blast happened is generally crowded. Therefore, Punjab Police and NIA are thoroughly investigating the incident from all angles including terrorism. There is a Red-Alert issued in Punjab by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, following reports of smuggling of tiffin bombs in the state few weeks ago.
