BSF soldiers recovered 1 kg 120 grams of heroin hidden inside shoes at Khalra border region and 2 kg 416 grams of heroin from Naushera Dhala, reports said.

Tarn Taran Sahib: The personnel of Border Security Force (BSF) seized three kilograms of heroin and 30 grams of opium worth Rs.5 crore during a search operation in Punjab's Tarn Taran Sahib district.

The search followed movements across the border fencing on Saturday and five suspected peddlers were arrested.

As per reports, BSF jawans recovered 1 kg 120 grams of heroin, hidden inside shoes, from Khalra border region and 2 kg 416 grams of heroin from Naushera Dhala. The accused have been identified as Bikramjit Singh, Nirmal Singh, Nachhatar Singh, Punjab Singh and Raju. A case has been registered against the arrested accused at Khalra police station and Sarai Amanat Khan police station.

A few days ago Delhi Police arrested a drug peddler with eight kilograms of heroin worth crores of rupees in the international market.

Last month, in the biggest seizure of narcotics being smuggled from Pakistan, the Customs Department seized over 500 kg heroin, valued at around Rs 2,700 crore, concealed in a consignment of salt.

The seizure of 532 kg heroin at the Integrated Check Post at the Attari border, some 30 km Tarn Taran Sahib, was an all-time high, Commissioner, Customs, Dipak Kumar Gupta had told reporters.

He said this was one of the biggest ever seizures of heroin by any Indian agency on the India-Pakistan border and "the biggest achievement in the annals of the Indian Customs history".
